CAN FREE TRADE BETWEEN NATION CAN CREATE PROBLEM ?

                       

Before starting the article it is necessary to understand what actually is free trade. Free trade generally means that a country can export its product to another country without giving any export duty (or import duty for the importer country) or minimum duty. 

Free trade is very helpful in boosting relationship between two nations and can be used for improving the infrastructure and economy. By the help of free trades a nation lure other to export commodities to them. Free trade helps in keeping the final product price low, Ex- if the raw material is brought cheap than the end product will also be cheap. 

So, basically it sounds like free trade are the best way to grow economy and boost international relations but there is always a second face of the coin. Despite having a number of positive figures free trade also has some darker sides.

A nation which is producing a commodity on a large scale will try to sell it to the other nations to earn income, so they make sure that there price should be lower than the commodity which is indigenously produced within the other nation. A nation buying that cheaper material is directly or indirectly influencing the jobs and market of its own citizens that are producing that commodity within the territorial boundaries. Ex- In 1928 the European farms were able to sell the agricultural products to USA at cheaper rate, which took the job of number of farmers in the USA. As a result the Congress passed a bill which imposed tax on the agricultural products imported from European farms. That makes the import costlier and favored the American farmers. 

Free trade agreements are like series of compromise between two nation to keep a balance on tax and to make sure that they have other resources to so that they didn't fall out with the fall out of one nation. Another example is the Free trade agreement between the USA, Canada and Mexico known as North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), it minimizes the taxes to an extent that it became cheaper to buy agricultural product from Mexico which again hurt the favor of American farmers and high number of people lost their jobs. 

Now let us take example from India 2 to 3 days back Japan threaten India to take him to the World Trade Organisation aka WTO ( an organisation that maintains the rules and regulation regarding international trade) as India has increased the tax on steel import from Japan which makes India the 15th largest steel importer from Japan which was 6th in the 2015. Japan is saying that India is violating the rules and regulations were as India has done it so to for the benefit of local mills and is saying that every thing done is under rule.

So the conclusion is that Free trade agreement one side can provide cheap products to the peoples but with the other hand it took jobs of thousands or even millions.

PARLIAMENT WINTER SESSION OR WASTE SESSION

Before the starting of the Parliament winter session everyone was knowing the fact that this winter session will bring a lot of heat as major political parties opposing the demonetization were ready to enclose the Government. 

But this is the part of our Democratic system as a healthy discussion and questions prevent the arbitrary rule of center. But during this winter session the heat became to hot that it even disturbed the regular working of the parliament and leaved no space for an healthy discussion which is expected in the Parliament specially when lot of money (which is collected from us in the form of tax) is spent on daily sitting. The session starts on November, 16th and ended on December, 16th without any major work.

Demonetization the center of Chaos-

Demonetization is praised by number of national and international personalities and many opposed it. Some one calling it a surgical strike on black money and someone specifying it as the biggest currency scam or something like that, in short someone is in favor and some are not. This debate in the country is still trending and spreading like a wild fire with everyone trying to prove their side right.

It is the duty of the parliament to conduct their business properly, answer the questions raised by the ministers (which are actually questions of the public), quench this fire of debate going across the country. But unfortunately this didn't happens this time as majority of time was wasted shouting, chaos and protest. 

Analysis by a Delhi based think tank PRS Legislative, which tracks the functionality of Indian Parliament found that the productivity of Lok Sabha this winter session was about 14 % and of Rajya Sabha was about 20%. PRS also showed that Rajya Sabha spent zero hour on questions, whereas, th Lok Sabha spent 5.1 hours. (Data from firstpost.com).

Lok Sabha passed 13 bills whereas Rajya Sabha only 09. The question hour was interrupted badly and only few questions were answered properly. Since NDA is not in majority in the Rajya Sabha the protest against them was greater their and hence the productivity of Rajya Sabha was lower than the Lok Sabha.

THE POLITICAL DRAMA-

Congress with other political party protested against the Central Government and claimed the demonetization to be a scam. 

Rahul Gandhi said during a press conference that he has proof of this scam and he will show them in parliament. 

However later he claimed that he is not allowing to speak in Parliament. On the other side the Honorable PM Narendra Modi is saying the he is the one who is not getting chance to speak in the Parliament. 

Central Government also said that they want a discussion on demonetization but the opposition is not ready for it. However the opposition has completely opposite views.

Speaker Madam Sumitra Mahajan, Chairman Sir Hamid Ansari and the President of India have already accepted that the precious time which might have been used for public welfare got wasted in the Parliament.

Many of the leaders want debate in the parliament on demonetization issue but non of them is actually doing so. Blaming each other and not listening. 

HEALTHY DISCUSSION??

Don't you think that if one person should be allowed to speak and asking questions at a time and then other should be given time to answer those questions can create a healthy discussion environment. Don't you think there must be a proper rule of this.

Many of us want the debate system like in USA for the elections but when our leaders are not debating where they should, do you think they will debate in public during elections. Well this is just an example our Constitution has provided a systematic format which everyone political party follows. But I think all of them have found a loophole which at last results in chAos and protest inside the parliament. 

Protesting is a good custom and it should be followed as it is our right to ask questions about any action of the Government, but when this same thing happens inside a place which is built to run a country people start loosing faith on the Constitution and working of our Government. 

FIDEL CASTRO : THE MAN WHO NEVER SURRENDERED

• Born on August,13 1926 the illegitimate son of a sugarcane planter, Fidel Castro was an Cuban politician and revolutionary of Republic of Cuba. 

• Excellence in both academics and sport he entered college in 1945 and joined many of the groups having strong political base in university of Hawana. 

• By the time he got his degree in 1950 he was already leading the law students federation, became one of the founding member of new liberal reformist party  and participated in two foreign political uprisings in Colombia and Dominican  Republic. 

• When Fulgencio Batista became dictator of Cuba in 1952, he cancelled the Congressional Elections. Fidel Castro had ran for these Parliamentary election of 1952 however he was never officially nominated. 

• After the elections were cancelled Castro organised insurgency campaigns against the illegitimate rule of Batista. 

• After years of Guirella training Fidel forces were finally able to defeat Batista army and send him to exile. 

• Fidel Castro was now the Cuban leader and hero of his people. He was the hope for the lower class peoples. 

• But he soon became the treat in the America's eye who was having a political and economic interest in Cuba. 

• The tensions rises to its peak during John F Kenndy rule in America, when the CIA sponsored military group Brigade 2506 invaded the Bay of Pig in Cuba, however this was proved to be a failed attempt to overthrow the Communist Fidel government. 

• But above all the real tension started when the Soviet Union installed Nuclear Missiles in Cuba having the striking distance on the whole United States. This is known as the famous "Cuba Missile Crises". It was very dramatic and proved to be one of the most dangerous situation in the history of this modern world. 

• Kennedy said that "any attack from the Cuba on any of the country in western hemisphere will be the attack of Soviet Union on America". This resulted in the deterioration of America and Cuba relations and they end up all diplomatic relations too by 1961. 

• Fidel officially declared Cuba as Socialist and captured all foreign assents and distributed among Cubans. He done all possible things to prove the world that his state is not an American colony in the meantime he was also careful not to be shown as Soviet puppet. 

• Fidel also sends thousands of soldiers to support the left wing in Africa. He sends his army to Angola, Mozambique, Ethiopia and also Yemen, in short a small Island country was playing as a superpower of the world. 

• In Cuba he started measures to eradicate illiteracy and nationalized the health care system to provide free medical aid to all Cubans. Despite of the claimed progress he continued to be the dictator of the Cuba and his power was questioned after the collapse of Soviet Union in 1991. 

• The help from the Soviet stopped and his country came under financial and economic crises. As a result of this crises thousand of Cubans started fleeting toward the Southern United States. 

• However his powerful image of an anti- American provided him support of other Latin American countries, He announced temporarily in 2006 to transfer the power to his brother because of his bad health condition. 

• In 2008 he decided to not return to his office. He claimed that USA tried over 600 times to assassinate him.

• On November,26 2016 he took his last breath in Santiago Di, Cuba. But before leaving this world his tiny but powerful state was able to challenge the superpower of the world. Some of them consider him as a hero, some not. But he proved that a strong will power can challenge any other power regardless of its status and size.

RUSTAM : INDIAN DRONE

• India is now ready to place his name in the elite group of nations having predator drones with the successful test flight of RUSTAM - 2. It is the upgrade version to RUSTAM - 1 launched earlier.

• RUSTAM is designed indigenously by Defense Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and it is first of its kind Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) in India. 

• RUSTAM can fly at an altitude of 30,000 feet above the ground. By the help of Synthetic Aperture Radar RUSTAM can see behind the clouds. 

• It has been designed for all the three forces of India that is Army, Navy & Air Force. 

• At present flying trial has been completed and now it will be tested with missiles. 

• It is a medium altitude long endurance UAV. It has an endurance of 24 hours. 

• It can perform surveillance and reconnaissance operations for India. Since it is a combat UAV it can perform military operations too if required same as US's predator drones. 

• The flight test conducted in Aeronautical Test Range, Chitradurga 250 KM from Bengalore where all the flight related system were tested. 

• The name of this UAV is dedicated to late Indian Scientist Prof. Rustam Damania.

INDIA & JAPAN SIGNED CIVIL NUCLEAR DEAL

After number of negotiations and talks India has finally signed civil nuclear deal with Japan on Friday during the annual bilateral summit held in Tokyo. 

With this agreement India has become the only nation who has signed civil nuclear deal with Japan without signing the nuclear Non proliferation treaty (NPT). 

Japan has 13 more civil nuclear agreements with countries like France & U.S. but all have signed N.P.T. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described this as a historic step.

Negotiation had started since 2010 during UPA government but got stuck due to the NPT issue because Japan wanted assurance that the deal will be used for peaceful purpose , but now India has finally got success after 6 years. 

The deal got a strong support during Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visit in India in 2015. This deal has opened Japans's nuclear market for India's development. 

As India is a rising economy and a rising economy demands power. India has also promised to reduced its carbon emission in Paris Climate Summit. Therefore deals like this will help India to get clean energy and to keep its promise.

Option to scrap N-deal-

According to "The Hindu" Yasuhisa Kawamura, press secretary of the Japanese Foreign Ministry has told that "If India conducts a nuclear test, Japan shall stop its cooperation". 

Japan Times has reported that the deal includes the option that Japan can give a year's notice before terminating it in case India breaks the nuclear testing moratorium. 

However the Union Government of India has said that the "termination" clause in the recent signed historic civil nuclear deal with Japan will be not binding on India. 

In Japan, there is political opposition for making an exception for India as it is not signatory of the Non- Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and India did not fit into Japan's 'Hikaku San Gensoku' or three non nuclear principles/

Indian Nuclear Market-

Indian Nuclear Market is flourishing on a high rate, specially after the deals with France and Russia. Kudamkulam Power Plant has already started working which is India's biggest Nuclear Reactor. 

Now after the deal Japan will also enter the Indian market. It will also open up the door for collaboration between Indian and Japanese industries in our Civil Nuclear programme.

Along with the nuclear deal India has signed the following agreements-

• Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) on the manufacturing skill transfer promotion program.
• MoU on Cooperation in the Field of Outer Space.
• MoU on Mutual Collaboration in Marine and Earth Science and Technology.
• MoC in the Field of Agriculture and Food Related Industry.
• MoU for Transport and Urban Development.
• MoU in the Field of Textiles.
• MoC in the Field of Cultural Exchange.
• MoC on Cooperation in Sports.
• MoU between Gujrat and Hyogo Prefectural Government.

NEW SET OF RULES FOR NOTE EXCHANGE

After completing one week of demonetization Indian Government set new rules regarding getting new currency. Now from today (17/11/2016) some more new rules are announced by the Government which will be in effect from 18th of November. But the question is same ' when we will get rid of the long queues. However our Government and RBI along with other banks are working continuously to provide legal money to the citizens so that the market get flourish with the new currency and the market and life of citizen come back to normal track.

So after almost 10 days what changes government has brought  to provide relief or what changes we have seen or what change public really want, is the today's topic of analysis-

CHANGES-

• Indelible ink (used during election) will be used on middle index finger to prevent same person from carrying out transaction. 

• Withdrawal amount for wedding set to Rs. 2.5 lakh from father or mother account. KYC information at the bank mandatory.

• Farmers can withdrawal upto Rs 25000 per week in the form of cheque or through RTGS. Crop insurance installment payment date increased for 15 days.

• Registered Traders at mandit can withdraw upto Rs 50000 per week. KYC is mandatory.

• Central Government employees up to group C can withdraw advance salary upto Rs 10000 in advance. 

• Now people can exchange 2000 Rupees from any bank, which was later 4000.

• Maximum transaction from ATM is now 2500 Rupees instead of 2000.

• Daily limit of 10000 Rs withdrawal from bank has been removed.

• Weekly limit of 20000 Rs has been increased to 24000 Rs.

• From today bank will also provide notes of 10, 20 and 50 Rupees, so that the problem of change in the market can be solved.

• Micro ATM will be installed from today in areas of high population densities so that queues can be shortened.

• Banks have been given orders to provide provision of separate queues for Senior citizens and Specially able citizens.

• Separate queues for exchanging money and depositing and withdrawal in banks.

• Some of the ATM are ready to provide new 500 and 2000 Rupee notes.

Government and RBI are working to upgrade the ATM, enabling them to provide new currency. 

A special team under the leadership of Deputy Governor of RBI are continuously watching this. 

RBI has also issued a notice to public that " a person having JAN DHAN account should not deposit illegal money of others as JAN DHAN accounts are been watched continuously by Govt agencies.

SBI chairman Arundati Roy has also ensured that all ATM will start working within few days. 

Cassettes in the ATM machines are in progress of upgradation and still lot of ATM are either closed or getting out of cash because the queues are getting longer but the cash is less in machines (as only 100 rupee notes are provided)

Government has already told us that there is nothing to panic & it is true also, we should not get panic and support our government but it is also true that demonetization has created a lot of trouble in our life. But we should hope from today our problems will start getting solved.

RS 500 & 1000 NOTES BANNED

Ok for the first time when many of us listened to the news that the government is going to get rid of 500 and 1000 notes it sounds like a hoax or prank. But unlike the messages which get circulated only over the whatsapp, this news is confirmed by our Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. From sharp 8 P.M. on 08/11/2016 the news channels got filled with this news confirming that it is not a hoax and from 12 P.M. that is after 4 hours the big notes in your pockets will be illegal to use.

But there is no need to PANIC as our government is preparing for months to implement this. If you remember than Reserve Bank of India from May 2016 has started to distribute 100 Rupees notes in the market, as currency under 500 will remain unaffected.

Reserve Bank introduced "Currency Distribution and Exchange Scheme (CDES)" under Clean note policy. Under this scheme 

1. RBI gave incentive to banks to exchange damage notes and to         provide ATMs providing 100 Rupees notes.

2. RBI promotes to repay 50% money spend by the bank to open         Currency Chest in area consist of 100000 population.

3. 50% money spend by bank to open ATMs in metro and other           cities & 60% for rural areas for providing 100 Rupees notes or         lesser will be paid by RBI.

4. After 1st November RBI ordered banks to open 10% ATMs             which will give 100 Rupees notes and to increase the circulation     of 100 Rupees note.

5. RBI continuously monitored and announced to imposed penalty       on banks not following the guidelines.

EIGHT MAJOR DECISIONS-

1. CLOSING BANKS AND ATM- 

Banks will be closed for today (09/11/2016) and ATM for two days (09 to 10 of november). As it will take some time for banks to organize the system of changing the notes.

2. EXCEPTION FOR 72 HOURS-

These notes can still be use in Hospitals, Petrol & CNG stations, Railway counter & International airports for 72 hours that is till the midnight of 11 November.

3. EXCHANGING NOTES-

From 10th November to 30th of December these notes can be exchanged in Post Offices & Banks by showing any Govt provided ID proof. However 4000 Rupees is the present limit per day which will increase in future. You can also deposit your old notes in your Bank or Post Office account. .

4. NOT AFFECTING CURRENCY-

Notes from 1 to 100 rupees will be unaffected.

5. TIME LIMIT-

From 10 to 24th of November, 4000 Rupees of 500 and 1000 Rupees notes can be exchanged. After 24th November the limit of 4000 Rupees will be increased. Till 30th of December people can exchange there old notes. Those who will miss this opportunity will get a last chance too, they can change there old notes after 30th of December from RBI by giving a affidavit till march 2017.

6. WITHDRAWAL FROM ATM-

When ATM will open only 2000 Rupees can be withdrawal per day which will increase to 10000 Rupees per day and 20000 Rupees per week.

7. FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAVELERS-

People going outside India or coming to India at present will be provided to exchange 4000 Rupees with the new legal currency of India.

8. OTHER TRANSACTIONS-

Payments through Cheques, Demand Drafts or online will remain affected and no restrictions are imposed on them.

PROBLEMS-

1. Long queues outside the ATM after decisions and is expected to       remain same for some period of time.

2. Many shopkeepers, Petrol Pumps and small hospitals may refuse     to take old notes.

3. People travelling inside the country can also face major issue if       hotel, shops or restaurants will not accept the old notes.

4. Patients in hospitals may face some problems.

5. At present 1650 crore of 500 rupees and 670 crores of 1000             rupees are there in the market which are used for daily payments,     they may get affected. 

6. Wedding season is going people may face problems in cash             payments which is more comman in our country.

7. Purchasing through cash in the real estate will face a fall.


It is true that we will have to face problems but these problems are short terms and the relief provided will be long term. It is the time for our country to stand together with our Government and help in making our country prosperous without getting panic.
